Registration on GaiaOnline

Gaia Online claims it is 13+, but it’s so easy for a eight, nine years old to join that it’s almost a joke. We believe that Gaia Online says it is 13+ only to preserve a good image. This is, however, not true, as there are hordes of little kids that have nothing better to do than joining Gaia and getting raped by pedophiles.

 

You think I’m joking? Who the hell over 14, maybe 15 would join a stupid game where the average IQ is 75?

 

Oh, but don’t worry, Gaia takes strong precautions to make sure NO ONE under 13 can join. In fact, they :

 

–Ask kids under 13 not to join in the first place kids would look: hidden deep below pages of Terms of Services

 

–When registering, it asks for your birthday, and if it is too low, it tells you this

 

”You cannot registed at this time”

 

You then have to press ”back”, change the birthdate year a bit (assuming you didn’t put a fake in the first place) and click ‘’submit” again. 

 

That’s it! That’s how Gaia Online intends to stop kids from registering. Wait, wait Mr. Boosh, tell us how they could possibly do better?

 

If they really wanted to stop kids from registering at their forums (they do not, in case you haven’t figured yet), they would clearly state the game is 13+ in the first page, and also make a display in the registration process. I am not asking that Gaia does a verification for each person who joins but at least show clearly to every new subscriber that the game is not designed for persons below 13. Instead, they hide it somewhere in their Terms of Service that no one ever read.

 

Wait, what does it change?

 

Gaia takes great proud into saying its boards are kept mature and that children under 13 cannot join, but I have just shown it is total bullshit. There are, in fact, a lot of eight, ten, eleven years old kids crawling on the forums. And Gaia does not care about it. Why should it? These are the people that buy the most donations.

 

If I had a sixteen years old kid wanting some monthly collectibles, I’d tell him to get a job. If I had an eleven years old kid wanting this same donation, what could I tell him? This is not counting that the children are MUCH more influential.

    OMG. I was fucking banned. They had no proof, that I was 13+ or lower. Gaiaonline is so gay. Im actually 13, and i have to wait 2 years until i can play again. I sent the an email, each time i write something like “Omg, you people are fucking stupid” They still reply the same thing.

    And how do you propose they even verify a kid’s age?
    I know of several places that don’t check, including Neopets, where you cannot access the forums until you are 18.
    And by stating such a thing, you should have at least given a valid way of doing so. Otherwise your argument is null and void.
    And also, the money used in advertising and such might pay for the bandwidth, but Gaia is a business after all. That advertising can’t honestly pay for the moderators and administrators, the coders and graphic designers.

    To Kewki: Maybe it’s because you insult them in such a way that they don’t take you seriously?

    I really love Gaia online. There is so much stuff to look at and I get a good, decent laugh all the time, and it’s a good place to meet and to talk to people and make friends. Sure, you could be going to school, but it’s not like we’re stupid. We CAN do both. Gaia is NOT the only site that is “preventing learning and edumacation and whatnot”. You all should just calm down.

    Hello, I`m a player of gaia online I`m 15 and i`ve been playing for about two years. I believe its a game that should now be played by younger chidern of course. Thing is these kids are already explorsed to everything around them. So dont blame it all on gaia. Blame it on the adult whos not watching over there computer screen. On the other hand there are some very muture things on gaia. Things that scared me alot. REAL snuff and junk like that. Thing is you can now prevent that from happening. I would promote people playing it accpect its not worth it. Unless you have friends you want to contact dont use it. Now adays its not as fun and there are very stupid people useing it now and alot of things about gaia that are not fun like the old days. But please dont blame the safetly because anyone can still get on a computer and lie for almost any age with other websites aswell even if it states you cannot join if your under 13+ It makes no diffenents. Stop blaming the game. Blame the parents who dont take the time to watch there kid. Thank you

    Oh grow up people, do you have nothing better to do but complain about a site? Staff have other issues as well. Why don’t you try making your own site that doesn’t allow under 13s in and see how well that goes before complaining about it. Your IQ must be incredibly low if all you can do is rant about a website, all talk and no bite as they say.

    Yeah the site can be annoying and some of the people on it more so, and I get what you’re saying about how it’s all gone commercial and it seems to be all about the money, but as more and more people are joining, they’re needing more money for keeping the site up.

    I know what you mean about how they should make it seem like they’re more concerned about kids not joining the site. Morons who post saying that they’re under 13, for example, on the forums or wherever, even if it says they’re 18 because they just lied at the registration thing – should be temporarily banned until they’re of age. But ultimately like I saw a few other people say here it’s up to the parents. Yes the site can do things to be a little more clear that they don’t want younger people on the site, but if parents let their kids do whatever the hell they want, the kids are going to do just that.

    And anyone saying that you should grow up and stop complaining about the site is just as stupid as they claim you are o.O You’re entitled to an opinion, you make some valid points, and people should be aware of all the dirty little details about the site before they go on it so that they can be sure they’re prepared for what might come from it.

So what if children under 13 can get on the site? it’s the same with a whole lot of other sites, too, but I don’t hear you saying anything about them. Just face it, it isnt’ gaia’s fault at all.     They don’t do it to “look good”. Some of the stuff on there is a little more mature and they’re trying their best to get kids to wait or move on. And for that only kids under 13 would want to join, a large portion or gaiaonline is over fifteen! Get over yourself, trying to sound righteous and official.     Its the parents responsibility to monitor what sites their children are using. Don’t go placing the blame on Gaia. If Gaia does find out there is an underage account, it is banned for breaking the Terms of Service agreement.

    I started playing when i was 9. And now i’m 13..
    But why should it matter? They still CAN’T Prove their age,
    If you were to make more security things, ex; so they could prove that they’re 13+
    they could easily get past that. Kid’s are smart. There’s basically no way to not let kids under 13 play gaia.
    But why should it matter? I mean, if your mature.. Then it shouldn’t matter what your age is. As long as your having fun, and wasting some spare time. I swear, Almost half of gaia is kids.
    But what are you going to do about it? Ban them all? Theres 25% of gaia, GONE.

    Wow, I honestly don’t know just how to reply on this…Personally I love Gaiaonline. If you don’t like it don’t use it. It’s as simple as that. It’s the same with everything. Don’t like, Don’t watch, etc.

    But it is true that everyone has the right to say what they think, though I find it kinda useless to post this, Why would you post to go against it? Are you trying to get a site taking down just because you don’t like it and ruin it for others who enjoy it or what?

    This website is poorly made, and the trolling isn’t 100% material…but, personally, I think the owners of this website have a point. Gaia is SHITTY, yet somehow addicting. You waste your time and money on the computer, all day, every day, just to get some virtual items and gold to spice up your pixelated alter-ego. The “friends” you make online– are you sure they’re friends, and not foes? The 14 year old girl in VA could be a 48 year old sex offender in FL. As you progress with your pixels, your real life begins to wither away, and fast. Your homework becomes useless sheets of paper, and your real friends are nobodies compared to your virtual friends. “Oh, why don’t my friends at school like Naruto? Our interests are COMPLETELY different. But, uzumakiramen12 LOVES Naruto. When I talk to him, I just feel like I can talk about plot twists without feeling like a failure and a weeaboo!”
    So, anyway, that’s what I have to say. But the makers of this site are pretty immature, period.

    How would propose validating age? The underage kids are on Gaia because they are internet savvy. They know how to circumvent the system. It’s like a kid telling their mom that GTA IV was cool and not violent and the mom believed the kid. :I So even if Gaia had a “permission” form (I think in the past there were some sites that required parent’s email, form etc) for kids below 13 or around 13 (say 13-15).. a kid could easily circumvent it. I think more importantly moms like that mom I mentioned need to be less clueless.

    I guess having seen the ugliness of the internet overall, Gaia is by far a site that you either like or don’t. It’s not the end-all of the internet. I think that it is better than Neopets and really it’s not all that.. and I hope Gaia doesn’t believe it is.
